Collection: Addicted

Jamie Nelson presents a collection of images displaying the glamorization of excess consumption and the subsequent cultural addictions. This collection of images was taken over the last decade during her editorial assignments with international Vogues.

Work hard play harder. Dopamine addiction is more prevalent than ever– and moreover is pushed by big pharma and big alcohol with a blatant disregard for the consumer.

What happens when our bodies max out and the substances lose staying power? Even the glamorous models will eventually deteriorate from cheating the system with Mommy’s Little Helper.

Nelson suggests that our current dopamine addicted culture may have finally hit a wall in which living a balanced life without stimulants is no longer recommended.

Although Nelson has focused on a glamorous approach of addiction in this series, she foresees working on a future series depicting the ugly aftermath of the inevitable societal dopamine burnout.
